V Smiley Preserves produces a range of marmalades from mild and herbaceous to traditional, thick-cut, brusque orange marmalade. Marmalade means jelly interspersed with fruit pieces so the sky is the limit for creativity and fruit combos. It’s not just orange jelly with orange pieces although we celebrate the classics at V Smiley Preserves.
The marmalade bundle delivers predominantly citrus flavors sometimes combined with other fruit like nectarines or pears, variously softened or heightened with aromatics like vanilla bean, sage, lemongrass, coffee beans, etc. During autumn, bundles include non-citrus marmalades, apples, quince, cranberry, etc. We pick the flavors from our marmalade category and often double up on a flavor or two depending on the time of year. Marmalade selection is most lush November - April, but we stock at least 4 or 5 marmalades all year long and there are some fun summer seasonals like Nectarine Lemon Bee Balm Lemongrass Marmalade so marmalade is wonderful all year.
Last, marmalade keeps beautifully and improves with age. Our Bergamot and Seville orange marmalades are dated for 18 months of shelf life. I highly encourage you to stock your pantry in March and enjoy trying the jars at various times of the year to experience how flavors morph and develop in the jar.
